Risk reduction
Although not all cancers can be prevented, adopting healthy habits can significantly reduce risk. Maintaining a healthy weight, not smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, protecting yourself from the sun, and maintaining a balanced diet are fundamental measures.
Screening and early detection
Screening allows cancer to be detected before it causes symptoms. Tests such as mammography, Pap smear, colonoscopy, and PSA can identify cancer in early stages when it is most treatable.
When to seek medical evaluation?
- Unexplained weight loss
- Persistent fatigue
- Pain that doesn't respond to usual treatment
- Changes in skin or moles
- Unusual bleeding
- New lumps or masses anywhere in the body
- Changes in bowel or urinary habits
